Modernizing a healthcare information system: Cloud, microservices & enhanced security

A national body responsible for healthcare and regulatory oversight launched a large‑scale project to modernize its information system.

The objective was to provide high‑performance digital tools to streamline procedures for healthcare professionals, improve the reliability of health data, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

To deliver this transformation, the institution partnered with AVISTO, an ADVANS Group company, under a multi‑year engagement covering the design, development, and industrialization of critical applications.

Challenges and vision

The organization needed to replace a set of disparate tools that were poorly integrated and complex to maintain.

Requirements for traceability, administrative management, and regulatory exchanges were becoming increasingly demanding, alongside growing data volumes (ranging from tens of thousands to several hundred thousand transfers per day).

The vision was to build a modern, centralized, and scalable information system capable of:

  • simplifying and streamlining administrative procedures for professionals,
  • strengthening the quality, consistency, and availability of healthcare data,
  • ensuring strong scalability under increasing workloads,
  • and delivering a reliable and consistent user experience.

This modernization aimed to establish a durable foundation able to support future regulatory and business evolutions.

AVISTO’s contribution

AVISTO supported the organization throughout the redesign and evolution of its information system by mobilizing a multidisciplinary team: backend and frontend developers, UX/UI designers, Product Owners, QA experts, and DevOps specialists.

AVISTO’s involvement notably included:

  • full digitalization of administrative and regulatory processes,
  • implementation of a modular architecture capable of handling high data volumes,
  • industrialization of development (CI/CD, containerization, monitoring),
  • support for business teams in clarifying and structuring requirements,
  • UX/UI work on the extranet and several key interfaces to improve clarity and efficiency.

This approach made it possible to stabilize and modernize the system while significantly increasing its operational and evolutionary capabilities.

Conclusion

Thanks to AVISTO’s involvement, the healthcare organization now operates a modern, reliable, and scalable information system capable of managing large data flows, complying with regulatory constraints, and delivering an improved experience to professionals.

This technology foundation now supports confident scaling while preparing the organization for future business and regulatory developments.
