ADVANS Group
Founded in 2000 by Radomir Jovanovic, drawing on a strong engineering and business background, ADVANS Group is an independent group structured around expert and complementary companies. Still leading the group today, Radomir remains fully involved to ensure its momentum and success.
Today, ADVANS Group brings together four main companies, supported by their international subsidiaries, each recognized for its expertise in its field:
These complementary areas of expertise enable ADVANS Group to design and deliver complex, ambitious systems by mobilizing all the required technology building blocks, in France and internationally.
We operate in France, Portugal, Serbia, and the United States, with locations in more than fifteen strategic cities.
France is where the development of the group began, first nationwide and then internationally.
Our founder, Radomir, is Franco-Serbian. Today, we operate three design centers in Serbia.
In 2015, we opened our first location in the United States. We now have two sites.
In 2022, following the strengthening of our international partnerships, we established operations in Lisbon.
The history of ADVANS Group
2000 – The beginnings of ELSYS Design
It all started on the 33rd floor of the Montparnasse Tower. Six people, three desks, one ambition: to create ELSYS Design, an independent engineering company specialized in embedded electronic systems design (ELectronic SYStems Design). The market was promising, but in 2001 the internet bubble burst. The company held firm, driven by the conviction that technical excellence and a strong human focus would make the difference.
2004 – AVISTO joins the group
AVISTO, a software publisher born in the Telecom Valley in Sophia Antipolis, joined the group. The offering expanded to include application software development. That same year, ELSYS Eastern Europe was created in Belgrade with a clear vision: to build a high‑quality nearshore subsidiary, relying on local talent and strong cultural proximity.
2005 – First seminars, first milestones
The first international seminar in Belgrade brought together more than 130 engineers (photo). A strong sense of belonging started to take shape across borders. The following year, SPiDCOM Technologies was created, the group’s first spin‑off start‑up, with ambitious technology in the field of Power Line Communications.
2006 to 2008 – Rapid growth and spin‑offs
The group grew at a sustained pace: Rennes (2006), Aix (2007), Toulouse (2008)… Headcount exceeded 500 engineers. Trango VP, the group’s second start‑up, developed a real‑time hypervisor and was acquired by VMware in 2008. ADVANS Group demonstrated its ability to innovate and bring leading‑edge technologies to market. AVISTO Eastern Europe was created in Belgrade (2007). Teams gathered in Beijing, China, for the annual seminar (2008, photo).
2009 – Resilience in times of crisis
The global financial crisis hit. The group showed strong solidarity between regions, avoided layoffs, and returned to pre‑crisis activity levels by 2010. A clear demonstration of resilience and cohesion.
2012 – ADVANS Group
The group changed its name: ELSYS Group became ADVANS Group, better reflecting the diversity of its expertise. MECAGINE was created to internalize mechanical engineering capabilities. The group expanded to Lyon (2014), Nantes (2014), and strengthened its engineering center in Grenoble.
2015 – Accelerating international expansion
ELSYS America was created in California (2015), followed by a second site in Serbia in Novi Sad (2015, photo). ADVANS Group became a truly international player, delivering projects across France, Serbia, and the United States.
2018 – A new momentum
ADVANS Group strengthened its support functions and structured its ambitions, particularly in innovation, through several initiatives: customer PoCs, internal R&D, and start‑up support via ADVANS Lab (photo).
2020 – Covid‑19
ADVANS Group surpassed the milestone of 1,000 engineers.
In response to the Covid‑19 crisis, the group reacted quickly and responsibly: remote working deployed within days, reinforced support for teams, salary compensation for employees on partial activity, access to training, and close monitoring of teams.
This period confirmed the strength of the collective and the group’s ability to remain true to its values, even in adversity.
2021 – Strong recovery
The year marked a strong rebound following the health crisis.
In Rennes, ELSYS Design Ouest moved to Cesson‑Sévigné into premises better suited to its service platforms.
In Grenoble (photo), the group expanded to support strong regional growth, with headcount increasing by more than 30% in one year.
At the same time, ADVANS Group partnered with the association Femmes Ingénieures to promote gender diversity in technical professions.
2022 – Geographical expansion
ADVANS Group continued its territorial development.
A new office opened in Lille.
In Aix‑en‑Provence, Lyon, and Toulouse, teams moved into larger premises.
In Cachan, the new ADVANS Lab facilities were inaugurated: 650 m² dedicated to innovation, start‑ups, and collaborative projects.
Internationally, the group strengthened its presence in Serbia with the opening of a design center in Niš (photo) and established operations in Portugal for the first time, in Lisbon.
2023 – Innovation and structuring
A capital reorganization was initiated to support future growth, notably through targeted acquisitions.
2024 – International consolidation
ADVANS Group celebrated the 20th anniversary of ELSYS Eastern Europe in Belgrade, alongside more than 300 local engineers (photo).
MECAGINE Eastern Europe was created, completing the group’s Serbian offering with mechanical engineering capabilities.
AVISTO acquired La Chouette Co, strengthening its web development and UX/UI expertise, as well as Niri Intelligent Computing in Serbia, in the field of software engineering.
2025 – External growth and structuring
ADVANS Group continued its development momentum, establishing operations in Valence through the acquisition of Ponant Technologies’ engineering services activities.
The group inaugurated two new landmark sites certified BREEAM “Excellent” (high environmental quality):
2026 – CORALIUM & European expansion
ADVANS Group acquired CORALIUM, a consulting firm specialized in cybersecurity. Through this acquisition, the group strengthened its expertise in a field that has become strategic for its clients, while welcoming a team of specialists recognized for the quality of their work (audits, pentesting, application security, and end‑to‑end support). CORALIUM joined ADVANS Group with the shared ambition of accelerating its development and expanding its scope of activity.
ADVANS Group opens a subsidiary in Greece, in Thessaloniki.
